Approve Ref. 71

Referendum 71 is a very controversial and complex issue being sought ought in our state right now. But it shouldn't be. On November 3, voters will vote on basic rights that seriously affect the lives of many registered gay domestic partnerships in our state. The Referendum would give many rights to these couples, which would ensure a safer, more stable and easier way of life for them and their children

Many people who are against this issue are also against the idea of gay marriage, but this is not an issue of gay marriage. A Domestic partnership is a legal arrangement between two people who seek to attain certain rights that can better their lives in the state of Washington. Domestic partnerships have been very successful in many other states around country such as Massachusetts, California, Maine, Colorado, and more.

Gay couples hope that their Domestic Partnerships can gain a status that allows them to have rights close to that of married couples. And why not? They hope to attain things such as; the legal right to include your partner in your will, for a partnership to be covered together on the same health insurance, many other financial securities that ensure a safer future for their children like being able to legally hand down their pensions and work benefits to their children.

On November 3, make the decision that will help ensure equality for all American citizens. Gay couple's may have a different sexual orientation than heterosexuals, but they shouldn't be denied access to basic rights, that harm no one, but help them so many.
