She Doesn't Mind

I like this new Sean Paul song, and saw the video came out so I though I would post it. But as the video progresses, I couldn't help to think about this other, more prominent Sean Paul video which came out years ago and is still one my favorites:

Tavis Smiley & Cornel West go on O'Reilly Factor

The PBS Host Smiley and Princeton Professor West go on the O'Reilly Factor and argue poverty in America, the Wall Street crisis and everything in between. At minute 5:00, I think you can really see how most people feel when Bill makes extremely one-sided statements that only Bill can get away with on his OWN show. Regardless, a great clip of an issue (poverty vs. rich) which we will continue to hear a lot of this election cycle.

Mayweather Vs. Ortiz

After a headbutt by Victor Ortiz in the fourth round, followed by a kiss on Floyd Mayweather's cheek to make amends, Floyd responds by hitting Ortiz with a quick shot after they tap gloves just moments later. The ESPN boxer insiders say Mayweather did nothing wrong, although to me it looked like a cheap shot, then again I know nothing about boxing. The man is an undefeated boxer, a great accomplishment in the sport, I just wish he could end a fight without controversy for once, and Fight Pacquiao! Be the judge for your self in the video above.

Ten years doesn't seem so long ago when the tragedy that marks the decade is embedded so deep in Americans lives, or so it seems. Prayers go out.

Kanye Beats

Via Hypbeast:
"Former Interscope-signed rapper Jensen Karp recently stumbled across a couple of CD’s in his garage, both given to him in 2001 during his time at the label. Each had the name Kanye West written on them and are believed to be the oldest Kanye West beats to ever be released."

Long story short, this is the first time someone said "Eyyy, those beats are dope." Listen to them here.

Here is Collie Buddz' new single of his latest EP Playback. His voice and harmony is crazy (period)

Hip-Hop's Wealthiest

Forbes released a list of the Hip-Hop industries top earners. Here they are with their worth and what has helped them earn their money.

1. Diddy/$475 Million: Bad Boy Records, Sean John and Ciroc Vodka.
2. Jay-Z/$450 Mill.: 50 Mill. records sold, New book, Roc-a-fella Clothing, Restaurant/Club ventures.
3. Dr. Dre/$125 Mill.: Producing Records, Selling Records, Beats by Dre Headphones, Ads.
4. 50 Cent/$100 Mill.: Involved in the Vitamin Water sale to Coke, Records, G-Unit Clothing.
5. Birdman/$100 Mill.: Lil' Wayne.

Forbes' Methodolgy for calbulating the worth: "In order to form the list, we followed the same procedures we use to calculate the list of the world’s billionaires (released today) — valuing current holdings, looking at past earnings, leafing through financial documents and talking to a bevy of analysts, attorneys, managers and other industry players to find the nitty-gritty details. We considered only performers, which is why hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons isn’t on this list."

Passports By State x Red and Blue States

I realize it the second map of the US I have put up this week but I couldn't resist posting this one. The map on top refers to passport ownership by state, with the highest being NJ, and the lowest being Mississippi. The bottom map is a break up the 2008 election by state electoral votes, the choices Obama or McCain. The similarity are there, but not enough for direct correlation. So is there any sort of link between passport owners and general political affiliation by geographical area? If so, what does that say about people who use passports...hmm, you tell me. Via Grey's Blog.

RIP B.I.G.

Today marks 14 years since Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious BIG was shot and killed in LA, and as they should be, most of his songs are still played like he has album coming out. The video for "hypnotized" is still one of my favorites of all time, and I think it set a standard for all music videos after it.

The numbers are in from this weekends Superbowl are in, and besides setting a record for viewership, Americans continue to tie Superbowl Sunday with many basic human vices: bad food and liquor.

The graphic illustrates: Highest viewership by state, grocery store purchases, top beer consumption, bar spending, liquor store spending, and more. Luckily Washington didnt make any of these lists.

First Ever Aerial Footage: Uncontacted Tribe, Brazil

The photos reveal a thriving, healthy community with baskets full of manioc and papaya fresh from their gardens.

This man, painted with annatto seed dye, is in the community's garden, surrounded by banana plants and annatto trees

Men painted with red and black vegetable dye watch the Brazilian government plane.

*Unfortunately, blogger can't format the video, so here are some pictures of the video. Click here to see the video.

This is the first ever footage released of this sort, and was taken along the Brazil/Peru border. It was a collaboration between the BBC and the Brazilian Government shot for a new movie "Human Planet." The main purpose of the footage is so Brazil’s Indian Affairs department (FUNAI) has proof to show the government, which will help stop loggers from impeding on their territories. Here is the article on HuffPost.
